ICASA Conference Review

The ICASA Executive  would like to thank everyone for attending our 3rd Biennial State Conference that was held at the Adelaide Convention Centre, North Terrace, last Friday, August 19th, 2011. The conference theme  was titled "Driving Infection Control to infinity and beyond!".

The day started very early but was quite succesful with over a 150 delegates and trade exhibitors.  We had both local and interstate speakers presenting at the conference and the committee would like to thank them for attending the day and presenting their research or wealth of expertise to both our members and non members. A special thanks must go to Claire Boardman who is only 2-3 weeks away from giving birth and presented both her talks by teleconference. We had thought that we might have to coach her through her breathing if anything happened but lost out to a slightly crackly phone line and a fantastic insight into what a difficult and beautiful place she works in!

The executive committee would also like to thank both our Gold sponsor for the conference AMCLA - Clinell, our Silver sponsor BBraun and our Bronze Sponsors Johnson & Johnson and Hospira for so generously supporting us. We also would like to thank the other trade exhibitors who also supported us on the day. The products and the buzz in the area was great to hear and see.

We offerred passport prizes, including 2 iPad2 and 2 iPods for those that completed their passport when visiting the trade by collecting a stamp from each exhibitor. You had to be in it to win it! Congratulations to all four winners who I am sure will get a lot of use out of them both at work and home. Also congratulations to our lucky last winner Lisa Upton, for collecting the final prize of a really nice bottle of red wine and  Haighs chocolates. I hope she shared when she got home ....

Finally, Jude Bail was presented with a lifetime achievement award at the ICASA AGM for her long standing dedication to Infection Prevention and Control and her previous years work on the ICASA Executive Committee. Jude had no idea that she was being presented with this award and was I think speechless for the first time in her life! Congratulations Jude on behalf of the ICASA Executive Committee.

The day ended with a relaxing cocktail party and dinner that was thoroughly enjoyed by all the stayed.

All the presentations are available on the conference page, including some photos from the day.

Thanks again to everyone for making it a successful day and night.
