Infection Control Association of South Australia (ICASA)

Special General Meeting

Overview and Voting for new body

Overview and Voting for new body

Dear ICASA members,

The Australian Infection Control Association (AICA) established the National Consultative Steering Committee (NCSC) following the outcomes of the Annual General Meeting in November 2010. The purpose of the NCSC is to identify and make recommendations for organisational restructure to the AICA Executive.

The first draft White Paper” “PROPOSED STRUCTURE OF A NEW INFECTION CONTROL AND PREVENTION NATIONAL BODY” was released for comment in April with a subsequent survey. The next draft addresses those comments and survey responses from all members across Australia.

The 2nd draft of the white paper has now been released in the first week in August. As the content has changed significantly the ICASA Executive Committee encourage you all to read this draft as your thoughts and vote will be required on two separate occasions based on what is proposed in the 2nd draft.

If you, the member, agree with what is proposed in the 2nd draft, then the first step in the process of moving to the new national body will be the 1st vote at a Specially General Meeting, by attendance voting or proxy voting. The vote will be on a two “special resolutions” to move towards dissolving the state body and transferring all current and historical intellectual property and financials to the new body.

The second step, the 2nd vote, will be either by attendance or proxy voting at the AICA AGM at the APSIC Conference being held from the 8th -11th November, 2011 in Melbourne, Victoria. This vote will be on another “special resolution” to dissolve the existing national body and role all current and historical intellectual property and financials to the new body.

The notice of Special General Meeting has been forwarded with this letter and includes the address, date and time of the meeting. We will be providing a light afternoon tea/supper for those that can attend the meeting. Could you please RSVP your attendance to secretary@icasa.org.au by no later than Wednesday 13th September to ensure you have access to the building to vote on the day and for catering purposes?

On behalf of the ICASA Executive Committee, we can only encourage you as an ICASA member to consider the future opportunities for Infection Prevention and Control at not only a state level but at a national level. By reading the next “White Paper” and giving your vote, you as a member have an opportunity to have your say in the new chapter for ICASA and AICA.
